XII. NOTES

i. Comments The name of the association is largely restored as only the first letter -l- is preserved in the stone. Although several readings (i.e. λιθοξόοι, λευκουργοί, lithozooi, leukourgoi) are possible, scholars tend to accept a restoration of λευκουργοί in light of I.Kyz. 409, CAP Inv. 1168 where an hiera techne ton leukourgon is attested (Dittmann-Schöne 2010: 115). Both inscriptions were found reused in the Monastery of Lips in Istanbul and they may refer to one and the same association.

Note The terminology used (techne, see above XII.i.) makes it certain that we have here a private professional association.
