VII. ORGANIZATION

vi. Laws and rules This fragmentary texts may represent the clauses about punishment for unruly members, contained in the rules and regulations of the association.
vii. Judicial system Although the text is fragmentary, it seems that there were regulations regarding debts of members (l. 1: ὀ]φίλημα (l. ὀφείλημα) ἴδιον, opheilema idion), possibility of suing members in court (presumably because of debts, l. 2: ἐνκαλεῖν, enkalein), as well as regarding the proper behaviour to maintain during drinking parties (l. 4: μηδένα δὲ δασύνειν τὴν οἰνο̣ποσίαν, μηδὲ ἀκοσ̣[μ]ίαν παρέχειν, medena de dasynein ten oinoposian, mede akosmian parechein) and in case of verbal or physical violence or abuse among members (ll. 6-8). Those who did not comply were punished with a fine (ll. 3, 4, and 6: ζημιωθήσεται, zemiothesetai).

VIII. PROPERTY AND POSSESSIONS

i. Treasury/Funds The association probably had funds and a treasury into which the fines exacted from members would be deposited.

XIII. EVALUATION

i. Private association Probable
Note Given the character of the text and the type of dispositions mentioned in it, it is very probable that this is a fragment from the regulations and rules of a private association.
