VII. ORGANIZATION

ix. Privileges The association has received several privileges, which are confirmed by Septimius Severus (I.Eph(esos) 295). The text is too fragmentary to be sure about their content, but the techneitai of the naike ergasia are freed from all liturgies (l. 8); further privileges have to do with the gymnasium and with distributions. This seems to indicate that their utilitas publica was officially recognized (cf. Rohde 2012: 286-7).

X. ACTIVITIES

iv. Honours/Other activities I.Eph(esos) 3075 records honors conveyed by the association upon Publius Vedius Antoninus, who is specifically called their benefactor.

XII. NOTES

i. Comments It is likely, but not certain that both inscriptions refer to the same association (also assumed by
Dittmann-Schöne 2010: 135). Presumably the tektones worked for the sanctuary of Artemis, as did the
gnapheis kai leukantai.
