ii. Source(s) provenance Philippopolis (modern Plovdiv). Found before 1957 (year of publication) in St Panteleimon str., at the NW side of the hill Džendemtepe. As indicated by the text, the inscription originally stood at the sanctuary of Apollo Kendrisos, located at the top of this hill.

VII. ORGANIZATION

ii. Leadership Two persons are mentioned as δεκανεύοντες, dekaneuontes (l. 5). The past participle δεκανεύσας, dekaneusas, (for one person) also occurs in a professional association of προμέτραι, prometrai, from the territory of Philippopolis (see CAPInv. 622 for comments).

Note Given the name of the group, its members were likely to be adults.
iv. Status Both persons mentioned in the inscription are peregrini. Their names indicate a mixed ethnic environment (one person of certain Thracian origin, but with Greek agnomen; one person with Greek name and a nomen gentilicium as patronymic).

X. ACTIVITIES

iii. Worship The only known inscription mentioning the association was a dedication to Apollo Kendrisos, the main deity of Roman Philippopolis, see Danov 1979: 266.

XI. INTERACTION

ii. Interaction abroad The name of the honorand (emperor?) is not preserved. But the name of the provincial governor, also occurring in the text, denotes a certain degree of interaction with Thrace's provincial authorities.
