iv. Honours/Other activities The Noumeniastai set up a funerary stele for Demosthenes. In other words they take provisions for the burial of Demosthenes, in all likelihood a member of the association.

XII. NOTES

i. Comments According to SEG 50, 876 this is an honorary inscription. Nonetheless Demosthenes is described as χρηστός (chrestos, l. 2), an adjective referring to the deceased.

Note The name of the group (ending -istai) together with the fact that the Noumeniastai took care of the burial of the deceased as inferred by the erection of the funerary stele point towards the identification of this group as a private association.
