References to buildings/objects ἡ οἰκία ἡ ἐν ἄσ[τ]ει, he oikia he en as[t]ei (IG XII.5 872, l. 76) -- if the restoration [κ]οιν[ὸν Ἡ]γεσ[ι]λειδῶν, [k]oin[on He]ges[i]leidon (l. 76) is correct, it seems that this koinon was involved in the sale of the house; note the parallels with CAPInv. 867; CAPInv. 866; cf. CAPInv. 864

VIII. PROPERTY AND POSSESSIONS

ii. Realty If the restoration [κ]οιν[ὸν Ἡ]γεσ[ι]λειδῶν, [k]oin[on He]ges[i]leidon (IG XII.5 872, l. 76) is correct, it seems that the koinon was involved in the sale of a house (oikia) in the city (en astei).

XII. NOTES

i. Comments Older eds. (following Newton in GIBM II 377) read [κ]οιν[οῦ Ἀ]γεσ[ι]λειδῶν, [k]oin[ou A]ges[i]leidon (l. 76). Hiller von Gaertringen (in IG XII.5 872) opts for [κ]οιν[οῦ Ἡ]γεσ[ι]λειδῶν, [k]oin[on He]ges[i]leidon, following Bechtel in SGDI 5492.

The transaction in which the koinon seems to be involved took place in the month Eleithyaion (IG XII.5 872, l. 75).

XIII. EVALUATION

i. Private association Possible
Note Both the name of this group and the use of the term koinon rely on restoration. If it is indeed a koinon involved in the sale of property, this would find its parallels in CAPInv. 864, CAPInv. 866, and CAPInv. 867. Even so, it is difficult to establish if such a koinon should be considered 'private'. Cf. Ziebarth 1896: 43; Étienne 1990: 42, n. 21.
