VII. ORGANIZATION

ii. Leadership ἐπιμελητής, epimeletes (ll. 8-9): the man was called Isidoros, son of Ptolemaios. On the title of epimeletes to indicate the leader of an association, cf. San Nicolò 1972: 61.

ii. Realty The association owned a topos (l. 5), which they dedicated to the crocodile god Soknebtynis.

Note As ex-ephebes the members of the association had to be male.
iii. Age Adults
Note The members of the association finished their ephebate 11 years before dedicating the present inscription, and they were therefore adults.
iv. Status All the members of the association had been ephebes together, in the ephebic division led by Parabaites, during the 10th year of reign of Ptolemy X Alexander I.

iii. Worship The association dedicated the topos and the inscription to Soknebtynis, a local variant of the crocodile god.

i. Private association Certain
Note Given the presence of an epimeletes (ll. 8-9) and the fact that the ex-ephebes still formed a well defined and organised group 11 years after their ephebate (and they owned property), there is no doubt about this being a private association. Cf. hoi to etos 7 ephebeukotes tes Asklepiadou tou Asklepiadou haireseos (CAPInv. 74).
