iv. Officials hierophantes, ‘the one who shows the sacred objects’ was the main priest and the one who accomplished the initiation rites in the mystery cults of Demeter and Dionysos.
Eponymous officials TAM V.2 1256, ll. 1-3: ἐπὶ ἱεροφάντου / Ἀρτεμιδώρου τοῦ Ἀπολ/λωνίου, epi hierophántou Artemidorou tou Apolloniou, ‘being hierophantes Artemidoros son of Apollonios’.
