Name elements |
Cultic: | Bakchoi | Geographical: | Kynosoureitai: this name is otherwise unattested (to my knowledge). It might derive from the place-name Kynosoura in Arkadia, Lakonia and Megaris (Curtius 1874: 4) or from a place near Kyzikos.
| Status-related: | protoi: this epithet seems to denote that there were more than one Bacchic associations in Kyzikos unless it discloses aspirations to excellence on behalf of this association (Jaccottet 2003, vol. 2: 168). | Other: | Kynosoureitai - Kynosoura is the ancient Greek name for the constellation Ursa Minor (Aratus, Phaenomena, 1.36; Vitr. De archit. IX.4.5). |

Comments |
The invocation to Agathe Tyche in line 1 should not be considered evidence for her worship by the association.
For the cult of Dionysos in Kyzikos see Hasluck 1910: 234.

Note |
The name of the association together with the evidence for internal organisation speaks in favour of a private association.
