Local interaction |
The topos was built under the direction of Hierax, a πλεσώνης, plesones (l. 3-4), a term that typically identified the priest responsible for the administration of the temple.

Comments |
The weavers of Abydos built this topos under the direction of Hierax: a voluntary benefaction? Cf. CAPInv. 1244.

Note |
The lack of a descriptive term may be problematic, but then again, the inscription was likely meant largely for the weavers who dedicated it and passing reference would perhaps have been enough for non-members. The connection to the administration of the temple, however, is a little problematic: was this possibly compulsory? Was the group of weavers here really a formal private association? The evidence remains unclear, and in that light it is perhaps best to note that it is entirely possible that this group was a private association.
