The name is attested among other individuals at Halaisa in the late Hellenistic/Roman Republican period (see Facella 2006: 229-241). He is honoured for his εὐεργεσία, euergesia (SEG 59: 1099, l. 4).

XI. INTERACTION

i. Local interaction Honours for a member of a significant family in Halaisa (individuals surnamed Lapiron, see Facella 2006: 229-241) for his εὐεργεσία, euergesia (SEG 59: 1099, l. 4).

XII. NOTES

i. Comments The recognition that SEG 59: 1099, l. 2 should probably be restored to read τὸ κοι]νὸν τῶν ἱερέω[ν], to koi]non ton hiereo[n], and so be an honorific erected by a koinon of priests is inspired by the recent publication of a substantial honorific text on bronze set up by a koinon of the priests of Apollo, also from Halaisa (see SEG 59: 1100; CAPInv. 1314). It is highly likely that the text recorded here (SEG 59: 1099) was set up by the same koinon, and so this text should be considered alongside the more substantial evidence for the koinon of the priests of Apollo recorded in the new text. However, this connection is not strictly necessary and cannot be proven.
