The restoration [θιασῶ]τα[ι], [thiaso]ta[i] is rather hazardous as one can also restore [ἐρανισ]τα[ὶ], [eranis]ta[i]. It seems to me that the group referred to in this inscription may be associated with the orgeones of the Mother of the Gods (CAPInv. 361). The origin of the inscription and the presence of Ergasion from Samaria (probably the same as the one in IG II2 1327, CAPInv. 361) argue for the identification. If this is true, then the group had three stewards and at least two of the individuals named here in IG II2 2943 were also stewards. |
