XII. NOTES

i. Comments The list contains 11 names, but not in one column, but (moving to the right) 6+2+2+1 (Milik 1972: 123-5; in Cumont's text, the first name is missing). The names are introduced with Μν(ησθῇ), Mn(esthei). Milik would again regard this as a "confrérie"; cf. CAPInv. 692, CAPInv. 679, CAPInv. 678, and CAPInv, 694.
iii. Bibliography Cumont, F. (1926), Fouilles de Doura-Europos (1922-1923). Vol. I. Paris.

XIII. EVALUATION

i. Private association Possible
Note The mnesthe-inscriptions have been linked to associations several times, but there is no way to know whether or not a permanent organizational structure united these names on the wall.
