Comments |
Edson, in the apparatus of the IG, offers a full list of the proposed restorations of the text, some of which restore the name of Zeus, or even Zeus Hypsistos, as the name of the deity worshiped. Given that the very probable restoration Ἀλέ[ξανδρ]ον Alexandron in ll. 2-3 is only possible epigraphically if one restores some of the missing letters at the end of l. 2, Edson is probably correct in assuming that there is text missing at the end of ll. 2-4, something that Duchesne's copy does not make clear. If that is the case, the most possible restoration would be (see Nigdelis 2006: 63 n. 79): [Ἡ συ]νήθεια | [τῶν] περὶ Ἀλέ[ξαν|δρ]ον Διοσ[κου|ρίδ]ου ἀρ[χι|συνάγωγον | -------------], [he syn]etheia [ton] peri Ale[xandr]on Dios[kourid]ou ar[chisynagogon ....
