The xystarches of the inscription had won many athletic competitions, he was granted the citizenship of various cities and the Emperor had named him archiereus (F.Delphes III.1 557, l. 1) of the sympas xystos, xystarches for life and responsible for the baths (valaneia) of Sebastoi.

The private character of the association could be questioned since Emperors intervened in its function and often named distinguished athletes as xystarches for life. Cf. also CAPInv. 1485.
