i.b. Document(s) typology & language/script IG IX.12.4 798 is a compendious Greek inscription. It consists of: (1) a foundation act (ll. 1-38), the donation (dosis) of Aristomenes and Psylla of 120 Corinthian mines to the polis (to be lent to interest) for the remuneration of theatre actors (ll. 19-25); (2) a decree (dogma) of the boule of Corcyra about the administration of the money received (ll. 39-146). Cf. Pappas 1996 and Migeotte 2010. The first copy of the (lost) inscription (ed. pr.) contains many mistakes: cf. SEG 61: 409.

iii. Income According to the donation (ll. 20-24) and the decree (ll. 82-89), the artists will be paid for a total of 50 mines: 3 auletai, 3 tragodoi, 3 komodoi. In addition, they will receive allowances accommodation and subsistence (siteresia).

ii. Meetings and events Biennial theatrical agones at the Dionysia in Corcyra (ll. 27, 135).
iii. Worship A festival of Dionysos (Dionysia) is founded in Corcyra (ll. 16-17). Migeotte 2010: 64 thinks that the polis wanted to revitalize an existing festival.

XI. INTERACTION

i. Local interaction Interaction with the officials of the polis: agonothetes (ll. 16, 23, 81, 87, 94); archontes (ll. 22, 80). Cf. Aneziri 2007: 81, n. 63. The male donor, Aristomenes, is the eponymous prytanis of Corcyra and the female donor, Psylla, probably his wife: cf. Migeotte 2010: 63.

ii. Interaction abroad The technitai came from outside Corcyra. However, their exact origin is unknown.

XII. NOTES

i. Comments Migeotte 2010 estimates that the investment plan voted by the polis (loans of the amount initially donated) were to last five years. The interest rate is supposed to be 16%.
