IV. NAME AND TERMINOLOGY

ii. Name elements
Other:Ξουσαριασταί, Χοθσαριασται - The name in this form is uncertain. Wilamovitz instead proposed in IG that the name was a misspelling of the Nabatean deity Dushara (Θεος Δουσάρης, Theos Dousares, cf. SEG 7:1107).
Note If the association is to be understood as a cult association dedicated to the Nabatean deity Dushara, then the character of the association is greatly reminiscent of other associations described as κοινὸν, koinon, although the descriptive term has been omitted in this case.

Note The reconstruction of the name of the association indicates a cultic association, and therefore of a private character. However, the name remains inconclusively identified. A descriptive term has also been omitted.
