ii. Region Rhodes
iii. Site Rhodos or Lindos

II. NAME

III. DATE

i. Date(s) 45 BC - 23 AD

IV. NAME AND TERMINOLOGY

ii. Name elements
Other: The element systrateusamenoi ('those who had served together') belongs to a military context. It is likely connected with warship crews. For Blinkenberg's view that after 42 BC such associations of strateuomenoi lost entirely their military character, see Gabrielsen 1997, 203 n. 55.

ἐν τριημιολίᾳ ᾇ ὄνομα Εἰρήνα, en triemiolia hai onoma Eirena - This name element is a reference to the trihemiolia (a warship) that the association served on.
Note The character of the association is greatly reminiscent of other associations described as κοινὸν, koinon, although the descriptive term has been omitted in this case.

V. SOURCES

i. Source(s) ASAA 2 (1916) 142, 11 (?) - I am uncertain whether this actually refers to this association.

XIII. EVALUATION

i. Private association Certain
Note The use of a cultic name element and the dedicatory-honourific context of the attested inscriptions make the private character of the association certain, although a descriptive term might be lacking.
