ii. Source(s) provenance Prokonnesos. The inscription is known from a transcription in a 16th century manuscript (no. 234) in the Ambrosiana Library.

XI. INTERACTION

i. Local interaction According to Robert (1960: 26-7) this triple acclamation emanates from the marble workers of Prokonnesos (see XII.i), in praise of the city of Prokonnesos, the association itself and the epitropos, probably the steward of the Imperial quarries, who was also called ananeotes (restorer).

XII. NOTES

i. Comments Robert (1960: 26) thinks that the techne consisted of marble workers, based in the quarries in Prokonnesos. If so, then the hiera techne might be one and the same association with CAP Inv.1168 and CAP Inv. 1169 (BE 1979: 372; Dittmann-Schöne 2010: 114).

Zolotas (1905: 245) related this inscription to mystai, something that has been dismissed by Robert (1960: 26).

XIII. EVALUATION

i. Private association Certain
Note The terminology used (techne, see above IV.ii. and XII.i.) makes it certain that we have here a private professional association.
