i. Comments In l. 4-5, it seems impossible to restore οἱ χρυσοφορέντε[ς οἱ σὺν] τῶ Ἀλέξιος Π[- - -] (sic), hoi chrysophorente[s hoi syn] to Alexios P[- - -], since we expect a dative after σύν and not a genitive. The man in l. 5 is probably not the head of the association.

XIII. EVALUATION

i. Private association Certain
Note Wilhelm guessed that the chrysophorentes are a group of people honoured in Greek cities.
Possible comparison with an Ephesian inscription (Wankel 1979, no. 27F, l. 437). The true character of the association remains uncertain, although we are keen on seeing in the chrysophorentes a private association of benefactors or people who received special honours, devoted to the cult of Apollo.
