VII. ORGANIZATION

ii. Leadership Given the expression τῇ (sc. συνόδῳ) τ̣ῶ̣(ν) [πε]ρὶ τὸν Στοτοῆτις (l. Στοτοῆτιν) tei synodoi ton peri ton Stotoetin (ll. 10-11), it is possible that Stotoetis was the leader of the synodos.
iii. Members The members may be generically called oἱ πε]ρὶ τὸν Στοτοῆτις (l. Στοτοῆτιν) hoi peri ton Stotoetin (ll. 10-11).
iv. Officials πρεσ]βύ̣τεροι συνόδου | ἱερέων Σοκνοπαίου θε[οῦ μεγά]λ̣ο̣υ̣ μεγάλου presbyteroi synodou hiereon Soknopaiou megalou megalou (P.Strasb. V 341, ll. 7-8): two elders are called Stotoetis, son of Nesthnephis, and Horos, son of Paous.

XIII. EVALUATION

i. Private association Possible
Note On the basis of the organisation and the fact that the presbyteroi of the synodos hired some musicians for the entertainment of 'the synodos of those around Stotoetis' (ll. 10-11), it is possible that the group here was a private association. However, one cannot exclude with certainty the fact that the term synodos may have referred to the priestly college of the temple.
