iii. Members The members of the association are referred to as οἱ | ἀπὸ τῆς συνόδου, hoi apo tes synodou (ll. 2-3).
iv. Officials A certain Paktrebes (reading uncertain and name otherwise unattested) may have been officially involved in the running of certain organisational aspects of the association, as he seems to receive one jar of wine (?) for the members of the association (ll. 2-3: Πακτ̣ρ̣εβῃ ὥστε τοῖς | ἀπὸ τῆς συνόδου α, Paktrebe hoste tois apo tes synodou 1).

iv. Honours/Other activities It seems that the association held drinking parties, as its members received wine.

XII. NOTES

i. Comments The date of the text is not certain. It may date to the late Ptolemaic or Augustan period. The text is of difficult interpretation and was considered a list or account of a religious association by the editor of BGU XIV 2430. However, Scholl 1986 showed how it is probably more likely to be the ledger of a business involved in the production of wine. Several points in the text remain unclear, together with the identification of personal names in the list and their functions, as well as their possible connection with the association. In this respect, I am more sceptical than Scholl and I do not think it is possible to recognise them as members of the associations. By the same token, it seems difficult to identify the owner of the business in the Apollon, mentioned in ll. 2 and 11, or a butler of the wine-business in Artemis (treated by Scholl as a male-name), mentioned in several lines of the text as the recipient of wine. The text remains of difficult interpretation and a fuller understanding is yet to be achieved.
