XIII. EVALUATION

i. Private association Certain
Note As R. A. Coles points out in his edition, it is perhaps not a declaration of prices, of which there are numerous examples from Oxyrhychus at this time. Instead, he suggests it may be closer to P.Oxy. LIV 3728 (306 CE: CAPInv. 1260), an application submitted by the donkey sellers in fulfillment of an unknown request. Although this association provided information to city administration, there is nothing to suggest that membership was compulsory. So we can be assured that this is a private association.
