i. Local interaction The oath was sworn before the agents of Sarapion, son of Ptolemaeus, nomarch and superindent of the revenues and the distribtion of the imposts of the Arsinoite nome (ll. 10-11). The fishermen of Narmouthis and of Berenikis Thesmophorou appear to have shared some interests and activities: the secretary of the halieis aigialou Berenikidos Thesmophorou (CAPInv. 1444) wrote this oath on their behalf.

Comments The fishermen of Narmouthis and of Berenikis Thesmophorou appear to have shared some interests and activities: the secretary of the halieis aigialou Bernikidos Thesmophorou (CAPInv. 1444) wrote this oath on their behalf. Moreover, the presbyteroi of these two groups may have been mixed together as it were; from the text it is difficult to establish definitively who belongs to what group. This may well suggest a good degree of collaboration (at least in this specific instance).

Note The group certainly appears to have been private, and the lack of a descriptive term of association is not necessarily problematic. The grouping together of these individuals certainly suggests a probable private association.
