Aristotle explains that while the politicial community is based on the interests of the whole polis' population, there are certain communities (κοινωνίαι, koinoniai) who are formed on the basis of a particular interest. Among them he cites thiasotai formed for the performance of sacrifices and pursue of social intercourse.
