Emporium Discoduraterae. The emporium lay originally within Augusta Traiana's territory, but from the last quarter of the 3rd century AD onwards to that of Nicopolis ad Istrum; Nicopolis ad Istrum, moreover, was transferred administratively from the Roman province of Thrace to that of Moesia Inferior at the end of the 2nd century AD. Thus, the text's attribution to Augusta Traiana or to Nicopolis ad Istrum and to Thrace or Moesia Inferior rests on the document's date, which at this point cannot be defined with the necessary accuracy. For the emporium, see TIR, Philippopolis K-35/II, p. 104-105 (s.v.).

Comments |
Inscription IGBulg II 740 is known only from a facsimile of H. Škorpil, made at the end of the 19th century AD. As pointed out by Mihailov, "ex exemplo Škorpili nihil fere comprehendere nec restituere possis"; thus, readings and ensuing restitutions must remain conjectural.

Note |
Reference to thiasitai must remain conjectural, due the text's fragmentary preservation and to Škorpil's uncertain readings.
