Personal:...]νίων, ...]nion - The element is reminiscent of the ending a typical compound naming element based on a personal name with an adjective + plural genitive ending, which suggests either a founder or a benefactor of the association, (cf. Thomsen (forthcoming), Gabrielsen 1997 p. 126-7, Maiuri 1916 p. 141, Poland 1909 p. 73-6).
Theophoric:Ἀθαναιισταί, Athanaistai - From the doric spelling of Athena (Morrelli, I culti in Rodi [Pisa, 1959] 2-13, 80-89).
iii. Descriptive terms κοινὸν, koinon
Note Whether the naming element mentioned on the fourth line (-]νίων κ[οινὸν], -]nion k[oinon]) should be seen in connection to the Athanaistai is difficult to assess due to the state of the inscription.

The inscription is completely broken on the right. The descriptive term was restored by Maiuri, which seems likely based on the phraseology of the inscription and the presence of the letter 'κ' before the break on the fourth line (Maiuri, NSER 28, l. 4).
