VI. BUILT AND VISUAL SPACE
i. | Archaeological remains | Excavations in the west slope of the Akropolis in autumn 1892 revealed an open-air, trapezoidal temenos, 17x15m with foundations of a peribolos, the base of a marble offering table, and a well identified by inscriptions with a sanctuary of Amynos. Among the finds were sculpture (reliefs, statuettes, terracota statuettes), pottery, and inscriptions (decrees, dedications to Asklepios and Amynos); see Koerte 1896. In IG II2 1253, ll. 7-10 the group praises and awards golden crowns, while in IG II2 1259, ll. 6-7 the group praises but awards olive leaves crown. |
