The dedicants are self-identified as συνκλῖται, synklitai, ‘participants at the same banquet’. The meaning of νέ[οι], ne[oi] is unclear. Mihailov 1981 interprets the term as an indication that the dedication was offered by new members of the association upon their initiation. The awkward syntax and the doubtful reading, however, dictates caution.

Worship |
The term συνκλίται, synklitai, points to cult banquets in honour of the Θεὸς Ἥρως theos Heros, to whom the dedication is addressed. Worship by the group is therefore supposed.

Note |
The term synklitai, common in the religious associations of the Egyptian Gods and of Theos Hypsistos of Thessalonike, as well as the possible mention of new initiates make the attribution of IGBulg V 5899 to a religious association for the Thracian deity of Theos Heros certain.
