Note |
Thalamos, the deceased, tells the reader of the inscription that having been to Pisa frequently, "I was called Pisaios by all my synetairoi". This does not suggest a formal organization. Rather, synetairoi is an eloquent word for "friends" that fits the Homeric tone of the epitaph well.
