Comments |
The text is very fragmentary. The restoration [σ]υ̣μποσ[ιασταὶ], [s]ympo[siastai] (IG XII.5 958, l. 3) on the basis of which Poland seems to have included the text in his list of evidence (Poland B *207) is doubtful and an alternative reading has been suggested (Graindor 1908: 10, no. 4; cf. Hiller von Gaertringen in IG XII. 5 958, l. 3: [Ὄλ]υ̣μπος, [Ol]ympos).

Note |
While Poland seems to have included IG XII.5 958 because of a presumed reference to symposiastai (l. 3), this rests on a very doubtful restoration (see 'Comments'). The mention of 'true friends' (l. 2: philoi gnesioi) alone does not provide enough evidence for the attestation of an organized private body. Cf. Poland 1909: 53-4.
