III. DATE

IV. NAME AND TERMINOLOGY

iii. Descriptive terms ἔρανος, eranos ?
Note eranos: IG XII. 7 61, l. 8

The mention of eranos in IG XII. 7 61, l. 8 is completely restored; there is reference to an archeranos in l. 9 and there are parallels with IG XII.7 58 concerning an eranos (= CAPInv. 858).

V. SOURCES

i. Source(s) IG XII.7 61 (iii BC)
Online Resources IG XII.7 61
i.a. Source type(s) Epigraphic source(s)
i.c. Physical format(s) fragmentary piece of marble, broken on all sides

VII. ORGANIZATION

ii. Leadership [ἀ]ρχεράνος, [a]rcheranos (IG XII.7 61, l. 9)

IX. MEMBERSHIP

v. Relations The mention of a brother (adelphos: IG XII.7 61, l. 8; cf. 6) indicates family connections, but whether this was between members of the eranos is impossible to tell.

XII. NOTES

i. Comments Note the parallel with CAPInv. 858. It is not clear whether this is the same or a different eranos. There is another (unpublished) text from Arkesine which also mentions an archeranos (SEG 55: 965; Marangou 2005: 166, no. 449; cf. 178).
ii. Poland concordance Poland B *162A
iii. Bibliography Marangou, L.I. (2005), Ἀμοργὸς II. Οἱ ἀρχαῖοι πύργοι. Athens.

XIII. EVALUATION

i. Private association Probable
Note The mention of an archeranos (IG XII.7 61, l. 9) makes it very likely that the text concerns an association (cf. l. 8: eranos, restored).
