ii. Leadership It is possible that Sesoosis, the commander over a hundred men (ἑκατοντάρχης, hekatontarches), was at the head of the philobasilistai prothymoi: Σεσοώσιος (ἑκατοντάρχου) φιλοβασιλιστῶν προθύμ̣ων, Sesoosios hekatontarchou philobasiliston prothymon (l. 3)

i. Number If all the soldiers under the hekatontarches's command were members of the philobasilistai (which is doubtful), the group had at least a hundred members.
ii. Gender Men
Note Given the fact that the philobasilistai gathered soldiers, they were men.
iii. Age Adults
Note Given the fact that the philobasilistai gathered soldiers, they were adults.
iv. Status The members of the philobasilistai were soldiers regularly employed in the army and organised in units, with various military commanders at their head (in this case, a hekatontarches). The head of the military unit and the head of the philobasilistai may overlap in this case.

XI. INTERACTION

i. Local interaction The head of the philobaislistai and hekatontarches of the troops in the territory was a well known personality at local lever as he appears in the prescript of the judicial sentence, alongside the epistates of the Peri Thebas and other military officials. His function as hekatontarches, more than his involvement with the philobasilistai, seems to be the reason of his being mentioned in the document.

i. Private association Certain
Note On the basis of the other examples of (philo)basilistai (cf. for instance CAPInv. 51, CAPInv. 606, and CAPInv. 826), it seems certain that we are dealing here with a private association of active soldiers.
